Editorial Policy
How we research, test, and publish family food and travel fieldwork across the archive.
How Mangoes and Palm Trees maintains editorial standards
What is the editorial policy at Mangoes and Palm Trees?
Mangoes & Palm Trees is a living family archive — a record of global adventures preserved for Victor and the community we serve. We document life; we do not manufacture it.
The legacy pledge
Mangoes & Palm Trees is more than a digital resource. It is a memorial to loved ones and a vault of primary family experiences. We archive true global adventures so Victor and future readers inherit an honest record of our journey.
1. Sourcing: human truth first
Every story and recipe on this site begins with first-hand human interaction. Sources include:
- Lived family experiences — direct reports from Oliver, Natalia, and Victor across fifteen-plus years of travel in fifty-plus countries.
- Heritage recoveries — memories and recipes from British, Austrian, and Siberian relatives, archived with care.
- Community stories — moments shared by friends and fellow travelers, published only with express permission and factual verification.
2. Travel guides, not negative reviews
We curate helpful culinary and hotel guides — we highlight places we genuinely recommend for families. Oliver’s long hospitality background informs how we assess service, logistics, and kitchen quality.
Each guide states whether we stood on site ourselves or assembled a researched overview from reliable current data to help your planning.
3. Accuracy and the freshness disclaimer
We make every due effort to keep spice science, travel logistics, and safety notes factually correct, citing authoritative public sources where appropriate.
Travel and culinary information changes. Restaurant hours shift, guidelines evolve, and third-party data can lag.
Readers are responsible for verifying current standards before acting on our advice. We assume no liability for changes in external data or outcomes from using our content.
4. AI as technical support, not storyteller
We believe in human-centric creativity. In our 2026 workflow, artificial intelligence serves strictly as a technical specialist — organizing archives, implementing schema markup, and improving accessibility. AI is never used to write opinions, invent memories, or fabricate recipe results.
5. The Victor-tested standard
Family wins are audited through the Victor-tested standard. Victor (age nine) provides final feedback on flavor and approachability, keeping global culinary adventures accessible for parents and children.
6. Editorial collaborations and sponsored placements
Mangoes & Palm Trees does not accept ordinary pre-written guest posts or client-supplied articles for direct publication. Potential partners may propose a brand, website, target URL, collaboration, product or service, or sponsored opportunity. We independently decide whether the opportunity fits the family archive.
If approved, Mangoes retains full editorial control over topic, search intent, keywords, AI-search questions, article angle, headline, structure, wording, research, internal links, images where applicable, and the final publication decision. Mangoes creates the editorial content itself and may completely alter any supplied brief or requested copy so it matches our brand entity and reader-trust standards. Payment does not automatically guarantee publication.
Sponsorship never overrides family editorial control or our ban on misleading claims. Commercial collaborations are disclosed where required, typically in a closing disclosure block. Commercial links are handled according to current applicable search and advertising requirements.
Availability and editorial requirements are listed on our affiliate disclosure page. Inquiries: [email protected] or [email protected].
7. Interactive tools (ICE)
Some pages include on-page interactive tools—recipe scalers, GERD comfort swap checkers, Maps launchers, packing lists, and similar utilities. These tools provide editorial guidance only. They are not medical, dental, nutritional, or travel-safety advice. Always consult qualified professionals before changing diet, medication, or travel plans. Tool disclaimers on each page link back to this policy.
